We would like to introduce you to ratiopharm Slovakia and tell you something about the country in which our company works.

Slovakia is sometimes referred to as the heart of Europe, and it’s not hard to see why – it is a diverse and populous country with numerous natural phenomena. Some of our colleagues seem to have been working for us since time immemorial: they started in 1992 as employees of the Merckle company, and have been transferred to ratiopharm in 1998.

In 1998, the Sunrise project led to a change: Merckle was renamed ratiopharm and Dr. Soňa Porubská became head of the company. Since then, ratiopharm has made great progress. It is the second-best generic pharmaceutical company in Slovakia (after Zentiva) and is ranked 10th among all the national pharmaceutical companies. This excellent standing has been achieved by our continual efforts to stay a step ahead of our competitors. For example, we were oriented toward the European market even before the Slovak Republic’s accession to the EU on 1st May 2004. Legislation is gradually being revised to suit the new conditions, and new laws and directives on generic substitution are being drawn up.

The company’s structure consists of two important units: office personnel, who ensure its smooth operation and the people who do the fieldwork. We would like to introduce them briefly:

The Marketing Department is led by Mr. Daniel Daráš, who is assisted by the Product Managers. It is responsible for promotion and for presenting our company to our target groups, namely physicians, pharmacists and wholesalers. The department is also responsible for communication with the Ministry and the relevant professional organisations. It organises countrywide professional and social events, such as the ratiopharm academy (a programme for physicians), the ratiopharm pharmacademy (a programme for pharmacists) and the annual Valentine’s party, which takes place at Bratislava Castle and is very popular with our VIP clients.

The Registration Department, lead by Ms. Anna Lukačovičová, is in charge of the registration of drugs. The department decides which drugs to import into Slovakia and how quickly this should be done.

Logistics also play an important role with regard to the organisation, supplies and stock levels of individual products.

The majority of the employees work in the field, and are led by supervisors and the Sales Manager. To be a sales representative requires enterprising spirit and an inventive mind – qualities which all the ratiopharm staff possess. They have strong personalities and any number of special interests, which enliven our social life and quarterly meetings. Excellent sportsmen and sportswomen, tennis players, squash lovers, postcard and telephone card collectors, gun experts, crack riflemen and hunters are all to be found among our staff.
