Merckle Biotec GmbH was founded in 2004 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Merckle GmbH.

Within the ratiopharm group, Merckle Biotec is responsible for producing active biopharmaceutical substances and finished dosage forms with a primary focus on biogenerics. Merckle Biotec is an independently operated venture aimed at expanding a new strategic business field integrated into a stable and innovative corporate group. Merckle Biotec head offices are located in Ulm, one of Germany's major economic and industrial centers. The founding of Merckle Biotec GmbH with investments in biotech multipurpose plants and in the field of pharmaceutical dosage forms represents a complete value-added chain combined with the related expertise within the Merckle/ratiopharm corporate group.
